Technical Program
Barb Aidelbaum’s GAME PERFORMANCE TECHNICAL HOCKEY SKATING PROGRAM has been developed over 4 decades of teaching hockey players. Players 16 years and older that are fully committed to a strength and conditioning program are considered for the On-ice Technical program.
There are no 2 players or bodies alike so every High Performance athlete requires a custom program. Very small training groups make this possible for individual feedback. Groups are formed based on the players’ level of play the previous season: BCHL, USHL, CJHL, CHL, U Sports, NCAA or Pro.
NHL technical skating programs are designed after consultations with the Strength and Conditioning coach, the physiologist, in-season team coaches, skills coaches, the physiotherapist, mental performance coach and any other experts on the Player’s development team. The programs are carefully and fully integrated for the best results.

Barb grew up figure skating alongside her three hockey-playing brothers. Her parents, Hector and Doreen Irving, were founding members of The Arbutus Club-a premier private club in Vancouver, BC, built around ice sports. This laid the foundation for her lifelong career on the ice.
As co-founder of the national charity HEROS Hockey, Barbara has used the game to teach life skills and empower marginalized youth. HEROS now runs programs in cities across Canada and in Belfast, Ireland. Her commitment to excellence, innovation, and inclusive sport leadership has made her a trusted and influential figure at every level of the game.
Barbara’s coaching seamlessly integrates elite skating technique with advanced off-ice strength, balance, and speed training, resulting in explosive, balanced, and powerful athletes. She continues to work closely with top coaches, sports scientists, and performance leaders across the hockey world.
